Charlene Summers

Charlene has been breeding top dressage horses for almost 30 years. Summervale Farm received the Top Breeder position in the U.S. for the USDF Horse of the Year Breeders Award for 2002-2005! Of the USDF top ten most successful U.S. dressage horses from 2002-2005, only one is American bred - H.S. Wistar! Not only did Charlene breed HS Wistar but she also bred his father, Wishes and Dreams. Her experience is vast and her knowledge extensive. She specializes in getting mares bred that have been difficult to get pregnant. Charlene's services include:

      • Stallion collection and evaluation
      • Semen processing and shipping
      • Excel at breeding difficult to breed mares
      • Mare breeding evaluation, including treatments for infertility
      • Insemination using fresh, cooled or frozen semen
      • Embryo transfer
      • Consultation
      • Foaling out of Mare service


Head Trainer - Jennifer Williams; Instruction through Grand Prix

Jennifer began riding for Summervale Farm in 1997. She is a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold medalist and has competed internationally in Grand Prix. She is an experienced horse-woman that is dedicated to the improvement of her skills and the longevity of her competition mounts. She takes pride in the advancement of her students and the quality of work that her employees and students put forth. Jennifer offers training for you and your competition or sales mount, consignment opportunities, lessons, and clinics.

Assistant Trainer - Paula Helm; Instruction for Beginners through Second Level

Paula Helm began riding with Jennifer in 2005. Originally from the East Coast Paula has been around horses her entire life. With an incredible talent for communication with both horse and rider she is excited to add on the role of instructor to her list of accolades. Paula has competed successfully through Prix St. George and is a USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist and will be part of Jennifer's training team in addition to offering instruction. Paula also is an accredited Albion Representative for WA State offering custom, new and used Albion saddles, saddle consultations and saddle fitting on most other brands.


Assistant Trainer/ Head Groom: Jessica Warner; Starting of Young Horses and Beginner level Instruction

Jessica began working for Jennifer as her groom in June of 2008. She is a dedicated, hard worker with emphases on the care and well being of our horses. Jessica began riding some of the young horses late in 2008 and did such an exceptional job that she has been asked to take on the position of starting all of our talented young horses after an initial period with Cam Reeves of Jones Farm. Jessica is working towards her USDF Bronze medal which she hopes to achieve in 2009. She will work closely with Jennifer's training program and will be a part of the development of the sale and young horses. Jessica gives the horses a solid foundation while building their confidence and familiarizing them with new situations.

Assistant Groom - Ashley Macintyre

Ashley has been Jennifer's groom since June of 2005. She was integral to Jennifer and Wistar’s success at Gladstone, NJ for the Festival of Champions in 2006 during the Inaugural Brentina Cup. In late 2008 Ashley took a break to have her two twin boys Gavin and Aden Macintyre. She has now returned for some much needed "horsey" time and to work part time with the Summervale Farm Crew.


Farrier - Jesse Marsh

Jesse started shoeing for Jennifer in 2000. He has been a huge contributor to the success of the Summervale Farm team of horses. After a brief move Jesse is again shoeing in the area and he and his family live right here in the Graham area.

Veterinarian and Reproductive Extraordinaire: Dr. David Best:

Dr. Best has been working with Summervale's breeding program for the last 20 years. He is a superb vet who gives excellent care with his abundance of knowledge and expertise. Whether there is a lameness issue or a panicked question needing answering, Dr. Best has always been there for us. Thanks Dr. Best!

Equine Massage Therapist - Jim Matheson

Jim has been giving massage to Summervale’s competition horses for quite some time now. The horses do well with his calm demeanor and his effective hands. He is excellent at identifying the underlying issue that causes muscle tension. Jim is an integral part of the Summervale Team.

Equine Chiropractor – Dr. Dale Pierson

Dr. Pierson has been working with Summervale Farm’s top competition horses for several years. His ability to identify and correct imbalances in our horses’ physical structures has been one of the reasons for their success in the show ring. Dale and his family reside in Gig Harbor, WA.
